Tailored trousers for women designed for service and style — Made in London.

With the increasing amount of female chefs who work in kitchens, cater at private events and generally take pride in their appearance, there is now a market for a more stylish chef uniforms.

Over her years in the kitchen, Australian-born, London-based chef Maxine Thompson found herself frustrated at the unbecoming trousers she and her fellow female cooks had to wear, so she began sketching the ideal female chef trouser - one designed for functionality and comfort, but also for style.

The name PolkaPants originates from a pair of beloved polka dot trousers that Maxine first made when she studied fashion design and wore whilst working as a freelance chef.  The design of the PolkaPants trousers is inspired by the Utility Scheme clothing of the 40s - simple, robust and functional. They’re a tailored, slim-fit make, with a classic high waist and two leg lengths, cropped and longer. They are available in black, houndstooth, white or polka dots (the signature style).  All trousers are made from fabric that is 97% cotton with a 3% stretch for ease of movement in the busy kitchen.

In the summer of 2021 TEACH SCOILE by the happy tummy co. collaborated with Polka Pants on an exclusive custom TEACH SCOILE print. The fabric was printed in 100 metre rolls in Turkey and then sent to London where each pants is had stitched by Polka Pants. We are sensationally proud of this collaboration as we've been wearing Polka Pants for years and couldn't live without them in the kitchen now!

Our Limited Edition Polka Dot TEACH SCOILE trouser is made from lightweight cotton for everyday wear in and out of the kitchen. Slim fit with a high waist and tapered legs that are cropped to sit above the ankle. Finished with a gold zip, pleated pocket detail and two slanted belt loops for cloths.

Made in London with fabric sourced from Turkey 97% cotton and 3% elastane for ease of movement.
